Welcome! I used to be Bristol2 in another life, but used up all my stumble tickets and had to start over. = ) I love the fine mix of people on SU from all walks of life and all races. *********ADDED NOTE: I hate to have to add this but it has become a problem lately. If you send me an email telling me how much you like my site and then add your personal non-SU site and ask me to review it . . . the answer is NO. If you review me and ask for a review in return, the answer is NO. I review stumblers because I like what they put forth on their site, not because of obligation. I do not "trade" reviews. Again, I hate to even have to post this, but it has become a nuisance.

National DNA database gets kickstart from feds

With virtually no fanfare, President Bush signed into law a plan ordering the government to take no more than six months to set up a "national contingency plan" to screen newborns' DNA in case of a "public health emergency."

The new law requires that the results of the program - including "information ... research, and data on newborn screening" - shall be assembled by a "central clearinghouse" and made available on the Internet.

According to congressional records, S.1858, sponsored by Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., was approved in the Senate Dec. 13, in the House April 8 and signed by Bush April 24.

"Soon, under this bill, the DNA of all citizens will be housed in government genomic biobanks and considered governmental property for government research," said Twila Brase, president of the Citizens' Council on Health Care. "The DNA taken at birth from every citizen is essentially owned by the government, and every citizen becomes a potential subject of government-sponsored genetic research."

A pending bill on the floor of the Minnesota House and Senate will strip citizens of genetic privacy and DNA ownership rights. Today, a state genetic privacy law requires informed parent consent for government testing, ownership and research on the DNA of the newest Minnesota residents. The Minnesota Department of Health wants to eliminate the informed consent requirements. A bill to remove consent requirements for government ownership and genetic research will soon be voted on by the Minnesota House and Senate.

Thus far, the state of Minnesota has illegally collected and claims ownership to the DNA of 780,000 children (soon to be voting adults) and has provided the DNA of 42,210 children to genetic researchers without parent consent.
Damn it people wake up!

Leave it to the tone deaf GOP to find a way of attaching themselves to this election cycle's "change" mandate that simultaneously reinforces the fact that their failed policies have messed up the world to such an inhuman extent that many Americans now live their daily lives in a state of free-floating panic and paralyzing anxiety.
We will need an anti-depressant to deal with the devastation the GOP has caused this country and the world.
Denmark Generates Too Much Wind Power | Got2BeGreen

From the page:Denmark has a problem with their wind turbines. Apparently its generating too much power from wind.

Right now, they are generating about 20% of their total electricity from wind power and on windy days that percentage can double which has placed some strain on the electricity grid due to extreme fluctuations. In western Denmark, the price of electricity can sometimes drop to 0 on a windy day which leaves utilities trying to find ways to offload the excess power. What a "good" problem to have!
So, tell me again why the US cannot do this? Other countries seem to be zipping right ahead of us with alternative engery.

The Pictures We See - Do You Get the Picture? -- Signs of the Times News

In our modern world, it is not photographic bust-enhancement, body-replacement, tooth-whitening, darkening of skies, cloning of smoke clouds or the images of fake buildings that we must concern ourselves with, but rather the probability that the large majority of altered, doctored or entirely computer generated images are never exposed as forgeries, and succeed in the completion of their desired task of deception.

Therefore in the pursuance of objective thinking, we must develop a critical eye, and a critical faculty of judgment. We must not rely solely on one source of information. We must network, to help each other with research, to look critically and examine the source.

It is impossible for any one person to achieve an objective view of this reality on their own, and it is in succumbing to the influences of nefarious propaganda that we fall victim to mass hypnosis and may lose control, not only of our minds, but ultimately our lives.
Visual manipulation in media is alive and very, very well.
